Soft Drink Machine Maker Bringing 250 Jobs To Cornelius

A company that makes home soft drink machines is taking over the long-vacant Michael Waltrip Racing shop off Exit 28 in Cornelius. Lake Norman business recruiters say Sprizzi Drink Company is creating 250 jobs.

The company, founded after an online fundraising campaign, plans to bottle drink flavor syrups at the site, which will also serve as a distribution center for Sprizzi drink machines.

Sprizzi says it will be open by March and fully operational in two years. It plans to renovate the 118,000 square foot building.

Cornelius Mayor Woody Washam called the news "impactful."

“This type of business is unique for our town and I’m eager to witness the positive economic impact," he said in a press release from the recruiting group Lake Norman Economic Development

Cornelius lost more than 200 jobs in November 2015 when Michael Waltrip Racing shut its doors after the end of the NASCAR racing season, according to a notice filed with the state.
