Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman said the U.S. Capitol Police have been working in the aftermath of the attack to "pivot towards an intelligence-based protective agency."

Opening arguments were today in the first jury trial related to the Jan. 6 insurrection. A lawyer for defendant Guy Reffitt says he's simply a big talker.

"I didn't see the report myself even until after the 6th, but the way in which it [was] handled ... strikes me as consistent with our normal process," said FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Opening statements began Monday in the trial of five members of the Oath Keepers accused of seditious conspiracy. Prosecutors say they wanted to use violence to overturn the results of the election.
