PostPartum Therapy Group
This therapist-led group is designed for individuals navigating the emotional challenges that can follow childbirth, including symptoms of postpartum depression (PPD) and postpartum anxiety (PPA). The group provides a supportive space to share experiences, develop coping strategies, and reduce isolation through connection with others facing similar struggles.
Who This Group Is For:
Mothers (or birthing parents) within 6 months postpartum.
Structure & Approach:
- Weekly 90-minute sessions (group runs for 10 weeks)
- Closed group format
- Facilitated by a licensed mental health professional
- Blend of psychoeducation, group discussion, and skills practice
- Optional journaling or between-session reflection prompts
- Snacks and prizes for participation
Hickory Music Factory Presents: Swingin Under The Stars
Hickory Music Factory’s annual "Swingin’ Under the Stars" will be held in Downtown Hickory at the "Sails on the Square" on Sunday, May 28th from 6:30-9:30pm. The FREE outdoor event features the Hickory Jazz Orchestra and will perform big band arrangements from the great American songbook. Hickory Music Factory's “Swingin' Under the Stars” was the 2009 winner of the "Best Outdoor Event for NC".
In addition, the Hickory Music Factory will pay tribute to members of the community for their years of dedication and musical contributions. So put on your dancing shoes or bring a chair and relax and enjoy the show!
Leaders in Action Lecture and Reception featuring Tammy DeBoer, Harris Teeter President
The Leaders in Action Lecture Series provides the McColl School of Business and Queens University’s campus community with an opportunity to interact with and be exposed to a variety of leaders with varying leadership styles and experiences. The lecture events are hosted in an intimate setting where the audience can ask questions and hear personal and professional leadership experiences from our guests.
The lecture begins at 6:00pm and a networking reception will immediately follow each lecture.

THE JAZZ ROOM: Emmet Cohen Trio
Back by popular demand, Harlem-based Emmet Cohen Trio returns to the JAZZ ROOM with his all-star trio and special guest, legendary saxophonist Houston Person. Known for its range and uplifting dynamism, the trio represents Cohen’s “kaleidoscopic sense of musical narrative,” as noted in Downbeat Magazine. Expect to be treated to a master class in stylistic juxtapositions, including the melding of stride, blues, church, swing, bebop, free, and contemporary styles, resulting in the innovative sound of Jazz’s future.

The Hot Sauce Truck Challenge
Join the wild ones of The Hot Sauce Truck at Divine Barrel Brewing on Friday, 10/13/23, starting at 6pm for The Hot Sauce Truck Challenge! It’s just $5 to participate, and you’ll have to run the gauntlet of 10 hot sauce samples, with each one incrementally increasing in heat. If you can make it through the 10 samples unscathed then you’ll win awesome prizes! All proceeds from this amazingly fun event will be donated to our friends at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte, so come feel the heat for a good cause!
2024 Charlotte Brewfest
Celebrate National Beer Day at Charlotte's signature beer festival, coming April 6th!
Enjoy unlimited sampling of beer made by 25+ national, regional, and local craft breweries. There will be a vast selection of lager, IPA, ale, fruit beer, and even cider to taste. Charlotte 54: Fashion and Flash
Glitz and glam will be on view at Wednesday Night LIve at Mint Museum Uptown. In conjunction with The Mint Museum's exhibition ANNIE LEIBOVITZ / WORK, enjoy a night of dancing a la Studio 54, plus pop-up runway fashion shows featuring looks from local designers that highlight vintage fashion from the 1970s to the 1990s paired with live music by DJ Smitty, Buff Faye, and Dallas Austin providing music specific to each era.
Program begins at 6 PM, galleries open late. Cash bar.
Wednesday Night Live is presented by Bank of America. This event is organized in partnership with Davita Galloway of Dupp & Swat.
Wednesday Night Live: Film screening of 'Plaza de Soledad'
Set in La Merced in downtown Mexico City, "Plaza de la Soledad" offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of women in the sex trade. Goded reveals the harsh realities they navigate—abuse, fear, and the emotional toll of selling intimacy—while also honoring their histories, families, superstitions, and dreams. “Plaza de la Soledad” captures the beauty and complexity of their bodies, reminding us of their strength and humanity.
Enjoy a cash bar and popcorn. Introduction by Chief Curator Jen Sudul Edwards, PhD, at 6 PM, followed by the film screening.
The introduction will be presened in English and Spanish.

Gaston Early Music Series: Songwriting Workshop
Carolina Pro Musica presents the 6th songwriting workshop at the Gaston County Public Library, Saturday March 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM. This event is for those who write lyrics or music and want assistance with their ideas. Bring started projects to work on if you have them. A piano will be available or bring your own instrument such as a guitar. The workshop is free to the public.
Facilitators for this event include Edward Ferrell and Karen Hite Jacob from Carolina Pro Musica plus
Jocelyn Thompson, well-known Gastonia music educator.
The workshop is open to students and adults. No prior experience is necessary.

Educator Workshop: Project Learning Tree
Join preservice teachers, K-8 classroom and nonformal educators as we explore activities in the Project Learning Tree Explore Your Environment K-8 Activity Guide. Every participant will leave the workshop with a copy of this guide that includes 50 hands-on, multidisciplinary activities to connect children to nature and increase young people’s awareness and knowledge about their environment. The activities in this resource are supported by a robust Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) correlation guide, building durable STEM Skills, and differentiated instruction. This workshop has a $20 registration fee. Participants must register by Friday, June 6 at 5 p.m.
The Nutcracker presented by Charlotte Youth Ballet
Holiday magic is back in Charlotte Youth Ballet’s 46th annual production of The Nutcracker! This family-friendly event showcases the artistry of local student dancers and professionals from around the world. CYB is a nonprofit organization led by Charlotte legend, Gay Porter, and Artist Director, Bridget Porter Young.
