Arts at the Abbey: Anima Vox
University of NC School of the Arts faculty Tadeu Coelho, flute, and UNC-Greensboro music faculty Carole Ott Coelho, voice, present a diverse concert as we continue Arts at the Abbey. The duo Anima Vox will perform music from their most recent concert project O Blissful Loss of Self, Explorations of Ecstasy in the Music and Poetry of Women, as well as works by J.S. Bach, Valerie Coleman, David McHugh, and free improvisation. There will be in-person attendance with masks required. The concert is free to the public. Donations are gladly accepted.

LEGO Club
Children of all ages can come to enjoy building and playing with LEGO’s. This program will allow for children to connect with other builders and work on creating different structures or a new challenge each month. Time for Tots Storytime
Held each Tuesday at 10am and 11am at the Mooresville Public Library, there will be no program on January 4 or March 8) An interactive literacy program featuring board books and simple stories, finger plays, simple songs, nursery rhymes, and movement activities. For ages birth - 36 months old. Each Storytime will have age-appropriate activities to promote and extend literacy at home. *Registration Required* All children attending the program must be registered individually, and there is a limit of one caretaker per child. We ask that families participate in one Storytime a week. We ask that you arrive 10 minutes early to claim your registration spot. Any spots that have been unclaimed 5 minutes before the program’s start time will be given to walk-in participants. Masks are encouraged.
S.M.A.R.T. Kids: Science, Math and the Arts
School-age children will get to experiment and explore the world of Science, Math and Art by participating in simple experiments. Family First: Black History Month Scavenger Hunt
Celebrate Black History Month with a library scavenger hunt throughout the month of February. Participants with completed and correct answer sheets will receive a prize.
Movers and Shakers Storytime
This program is held each Wednesday at the Mooresville Public Library at both 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. (No program on January 4 or March 9) Have fun listening to stories, singing songs, learning rhymes, and participating in movement activities that will enhance a love of books and introduce children to a world of imagination. Preschool STEAM
Each month, preschool children ages 3-6 years will have an opportunity to create, discover and learn different concepts using the STEAM approach. Sensory Saturdays
These family programs are geared towards children ages 2-6 with developmental and sensory issues but are inclusive to all children and families. Children will engage in various activities that may include stories, music, rhymes, movement, and sensory opportunities. Saturday STEM
Children and families will be encouraged to explore the world of science by participating in simple experiments. Mindful Moments
Held on the first and third Friday each month, this program guides participants in a variety of mindful practices to support wellness and self-care, including breathwork, gentle yoga, energy clearing, and sound healing. No experience needed. Sessions last for 30 minutes or less, with quiet reflection time built in for those who wish to remain. VITA Tax Help: Wednesdays, starting February 2 through April 13 from 4-8:15 p.m. and Saturdays, February 5 to April 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the team of volunteers who can help you file your taxes. Our speaker is Christy Larson, landscape designer. She holds degrees in Education and Natural Resources Management and Ecological Integrity. Attend and you might win a native plant for your garden!
Mooresville Public Library's Escape Room
This program occurs at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, and 4 p.m. Teens and adults can find clues, solve puzzles, challenge their brains and use communication skills during Mooresville Public Library's Escape Room. *Registration is required. Code Club is for children ages 9-12 to come and learn coding concepts. Developmental Play
Developmental Play is a six-week session for children ages 12 to 30 months and their caregivers. Each session is a time for one-on-one interaction between child and caregiver to focus on specific play and literacy concepts for this age. The program will occur February 7, 14, 21, and 28 and March 7 & 14, 2022. Registration for the program will start in January, and space is limited. *Registration Required* All children attending the program must be registered individually, and there is a limit of one caretaker per child. This program will require registration for the entire six-week program. Parents will register their child for the first program, and this will secure their spot for all six sessions. Any spots that have been unclaimed during the first session will be given to the next person on the wait-list. Masks are encouraged.
