Charlotte Talks: The 30th Anniversary Of The Charlotte Hornets

Tuesday, December 18, 2018

It's 30 years of Hornets’ history, as guest host Erik Spanberg sits down to reminisce with Muggsy Bogues and Fred Whitfield about the Charlotte Hornets. We'll take a look back at the players, the owners, the team names, the arenas, the ups and the downs of the Charlotte Hornets.

No other NBA Franchise in the country has a history quite like the Charlotte Hornets.

Thirty years ago this season, the Hornets made their debut in the Queen City, and this year the team is celebrating all the history: the ups and downs, the moves in and out of the city, and even a team name change to the Bobcats — and then back to the Hornets.

Guest host Erik Spanberg from the Charlotte Business Journal will be joined by Former Hornet Muggsy Bogues and Hornets team president Fred Whitfield, as well as the longtime sports reporter for the Charlotte Observer Rick Bonnell.

They'll talk about the team’s highs and lows, the players, the tumultuous days before the team moved to New Orleans, the years as “The Bobcats”, the triumphant return of “teal and purple” to Charlotte Basketball and much more.

Guests:

Rick Bonnell, sports writer for the Charlotte Observer

Muggsy Bogues, former Hornets Player

Fred Whitfield, President, Vice Chairman of the Charlotte Hornets
