Commentator Frank Deford says one of the most touching moments in Athens this week came when members of the U.S. women's softball team and their coach Mike Candrea shed tears in memory of Candrea's wife, who died suddenly a month before the Games. That episode highlighted the importance of personal relationships between coaches and young athletes.
