Los Lonely Boys, Gordon Gano In Concert

With their passionate and eclectic mix of rock, country and Tex-Mex music, Los Lonely Boys' members — brothers Henry, Jojo and Ringo Garza — seem equally influenced by the classic pop of The Beatles and the Latin guitar-rock of Santana. Click the link above to hear Los Lonely Boys perform live in concert from WXPN and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, along with a performance by Gordon Gano of Violent Femmes.

After winning a 2005 Grammy for the mega-hit "Heaven," Los Lonely Boys gained confidence that was plainly apparent on the band's sophomore disc, Sacred. (A 2008 follow-up, Forgiven, continued along this more adventurous path.) In recent months, the group has toured extensively, switched labels and recorded the new EP 1969, which includes Santana and Tony Joe White covers.

Opener Gordon Gano got his start — and remains best known — as lead singer of the Violent Femmes, whose classic albums helped define alternative rock in the 1980s. Gano just released Under the Sun, his first album in seven years; it's a playful and bittersweet collaboration with brothers Brendan Ryan (keyboard, accordion, horns) and Billy Ryan (guitar, vocals).
