Guy Clark: A Folk Icon Looks Forward

For more than 35 years, legendary songwriter Guy Clark has been a national folk icon. His songs are largely narrative, inspired by the storytelling poems of Robert Frost and Stephen Vincent Benet.

Throughout the '60s and early '70s, Clark lived as something of an itinerant musician and luthier. Eventually settling in Nashville in the '70s, he emerged as an refreshing new songwriter. Now recognized for a long list of albums and for his charismatic live presence, Clark won the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting in 2005, and even received a 2007 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album. The 67-year-old just released a new album, Somedays the Song Writes You.
