Hola 2011: New Latin Alternative For A New Year

Welcome back to Alt.Latino. For our first show of 2011, we decided to do what we do best: pick and share more great new music from around the Latin world. This week's show is a bit of a roller coaster, with an ain't-too-proud-to-beg ballad from lovely Chilean singer Francisca Valenzuela and psychedelic tunes from the Chileans in Astro and Mexico's Hypnomango. And we get violent with a band that could easily contribute to the soundtrack of a Quentin Tarantino movie, Argentina's Los Peyotes.

We'll also share a couple of amazing tribute songs. We open the show with Bebe's clever and playful rendition of fellow Spanish rocker Enrique Bunbury's "El Boxeador," and later check out Ozomatli's tribute to the legendary Latin rock band Caifanes.

So here's to starting 2011 on the right foot with some great music. We're excited about a year full of surprises, musical adventures and discoveries.
