Has NC Changed Higher Ed. Philosophy? UNC System Chief Wants To Know
The head of the University of North System tells the (Raleigh) News and Observer that rapid tuition increases and deep cuts in state funding for higher education could have huge implications for the future of North Carolina. As a result, Tom Ross says it's time to ask if North Carolina's philosophy on higher education has changed. Ross is in his first year as head of the UNC system after serving several years as the president at Davidson College. The UNC system is preparing for across-the-board cuts as the state deals with a $2.4 billion budget shortball. Ross told the newspaper that all of the cutting shouldn't be done without significant debate.
