Peter Wolf Crier recently performed a studio session for 89.3 The Current.

Before they were signed to Jagjaguwar Records, the members of the Minnesota band Peter Wolf Crier stopped by The Current to play songs from their gritty folk-rock album Inter-Be. Peter Piasano, formerly the leader of a band called Wars of 1812, and Laarks drummer Brian Moen crafted a sound steeped in rootsy tradition, but with an indie-rock twist.

The songs from Inter-Be were created in a single night after Piasano felt a wave of inspiration, following what he considered a dry spell of creativity. Shortly thereafter, he brought those songs to Moen, who helped develop them into the versions that appear in this session and on the album.

Fast forward to 2011, and the Minneapolis duo has emerged as one of the Midwest's most talked-about bands. "Untitled 101," featured in the video above, is also included on a compilation from The Current released this past January.
