Fired SBI Employee In Greg Taylor Case Seeks Old Job

A disgraced former lab worker at the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has filed an appeal as part of an effort to get re-instated. Duane Deaver was fired last year over - among other things - accusations that he lied while testifying in front of the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission in the case of Greg Taylor. Deaver's attorneys filed an appeal with the Office of Administrative Hearings, saying Deaver believes a grievance panel commissioned by the state Justice Department recommended his reinstatement to the SBI. Deaver contends that an internal investigation conducted by the SBI says perjury charges against him should be dismissed. The News & Observer has a story here.
