Bruce Siceloff of the News & Observer reports on legislation that would require teens under 18 to get log 120 hours of driving under parental or other approved adult supervision before they get their driver's license. Teens could accumulate a maximum of 10 hours a week, so the it would take at least 3 months to log 120 hours. That's a lot of driving, not to mention wear-and-tear on a vehicle. Assuming an average speed of 30 mph, that's 3,600 miles of driving. The legislation has passed the Senate 49-0. It's now under consideration in a House committee.
