James Farm: Newport Jazz 2011
No, there's no hot new wunderkind on the scene named James Farm. But the four men who comprise this collective quartet do share an aesthetic mission: For their self-titled 2011 album, they organically cultivated ten songs, nourished in fertile, rippling grooves. Saxophonist Joshua Redman represents the chief melodic voice in this enterprise as it harvests the fruits of its labor at the Fort Stage of the 2011 Newport Jazz Festival.
