NASCAR Layoffs Get Attention Of Mooresville Officials
Mooresville leaders want to address layoffs in the auto racing industry. Red Bull Racing has already announced it plans to shut down and lay off 150 workers in December. And more recently, Germain Racing informed the state that it may lay off up to 90 employees. Local officials don't want to watch and do nothing while layoffs occur. Mooresville Mayor Pro Tem Chris Carney tells the Mooresville Tribune that the town is organizing a motorsports panel that will include local teams, suppliers and the Mooresville-South Iredell Economic Development Corp. "We're going in open minded just to sit down and listen to their concerns and assist them as they go forward," Carney said. "There's a lot of information we need to get from them as we hear them out on how they are fairing in this economy, where they are going and furthering productivity."
