BélO: globalFEST 2012

BélO performs during globalFEST at New York City's Webster Hall on Jan. 8.
BélO performs during globalFEST at New York City's Webster Hall on Jan. 8.

A fresh voice from Haiti, BélO brings Caribbean undercurrents to socially conscious songs like "Ti Moun Yo," which calls on his country's leaders to not forsake Haiti's street children, and "Famm Kreyol," in which he hails the women who struggle daily to provide for their families.

Ladling a heavy dose of reggae into his evening-opening set, BélO brought huge warmth and a compassionate spirit to the start of a cold January night in New York.
