Australian singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke makes her second appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, W.Va. Trained as an opera singer, Miller-Heidke moves smoothly between pop and her more classical influences, often within the same song.
She keeps a sense of humor about it, too: "I realize the outro to that song sounds halfway between something cool and unexpected and the most irritating sound you've ever heard in your life," Miller-Heidke says after performing the beautiful title cut from her latest album, O Vertigo!During this five-song set, she plays piano, backed by guitarist Charlie Looker.
