New I-485 express toll lanes set to open this weekend

The I-485 Express Lanes project will add one express lane in each direction along I-485 between I-77 and U.S. 74

The new express toll lanes along the outer loop of Interstate 485 are scheduled to open this weekend.

Before the launch, crews with the North Carolina Department of Transportation say some finishing work remains. Lane closures for striping are planned between Nations Ford Road and Interstate 77 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say left lanes near bridges will be closed while the work is underway.
