Small earthquake near Lake Murray felt across Lexington County

A small earthquake shook parts of central South Carolina on Thursday, with hundreds of people reporting the tremor in Lexington County.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday. It registered at magnitude 3.0 and was centered near Lake Murray. Reports of the shaking came from as far away as Columbia.
