Mecklenburg County Budget Harry Jones has referred to this year's recommended budget for Mecklenburg County as the most challenging of his tenure as County Manager. He says, "we are faced with a new revenue reality" and that there is not enough money "to fund services and programs at current or expanded levels." The proposed budget, which is up for vote by the County Commission Tuesday night, totals about $1.4 Billion, but is making news largely because of the cuts being made to the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, as well as county employee positions and services. We'll talk about the difficult decisions that were made regarding what was included and what wasn't in this year's budget, who will be most affected by them, and more.
