Jonathan Kozol on Public Education (Rebroadcast) He graduated from Harvard University and won a Rhodes Scholarship. He planned to be a novelist but, instead, made a name for himself writing books on public education in the United States. For Jonathan Kozol, it began when he took a job in the Boston public schools. His book, Death at an Early Age, describes that experience. Since then, he's written many books bemoaning the state of American education including The Shame of the Nation. His latest, Letters to a Young Teacher, reignites many of the controversial issues he's tackled before including our pre-occupation with testing over teaching. Jonathan Kozol talks about all of this and more in a conversation from Lenoir Rhyne University.
