Nuclear Safety in the Carolinas The entire world is watching the tragic and potentially catastrophic events in Japan as workers urgently try to cool down several nuclear reactors damaged in the earthquake induced tsunami that hit the island last week. Residents in our corner of the world are especially interested in this situation because we have several large nuclear plants in our region. We'll hear from nuclear industry officials who can help us understand exactly what is happening in Japan and how it could be avoided here at home. We'll also hear from a nuclear watchdog leader with cautions about the use of nuclear energy.
