Giving Back: African Americans and Philanthropy One of our guests today says that often, people of color are portrayed as being on the receiving end of philanthropy. But a new book, written by a Charlotte author about African American Philanthropists shows that philanthropy is a strong tradition in the black community. We'll meet Valaida Fullwood and one of the people she featured in her book, Giving Back: A Tribute to Generations of African American Philanthropists, and talk about her chronicle of the black philanthropic experience. Guests Valaida Fullwood - Author of Giving Back: A Tribute to Generations of African American Philanthropists (most of them were Charlotte Philanthropists) Kirsten Sikkelee - CEO of the YWCA Central Carolinas.
