Neighborhood Safety Recently, a survey done by Johnson C. Smith University looked at communities around the JCSU campus to find out residents' thoughts about the safety of their neighborhoods. The research findings were a cause for concern in the neightborhoods because of the time frame that police officers took to respond to calls after dark. In the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin case in Florida, community members in Charlotte are re-examining their relationships with police and the efficiency of their own neighborhood watch programs. We'll talk with JCSU researchers about the study, and with a community leader about where they are and what they hope to change.
