60th Annual Debutante Cotillion

60th Annual Debutante Cotillion
The Charlotte Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated announces its annual Debutante Cotillion, one of the chapter’s longest running events. This year’s theme is ‘Diamonds Through The Decades: A 60 Year Legacy of Elegance.’ Under the leadership of Dr. Bertha Maxwell Roddey, 10th chapter president and Delta member/educator Grace Solomon, the first Cotillion was held on April 17, 1964. The Debutante Cotillion continues to be a community staple for young women who are seniors in high school. Participants are provided opportunities to attend workshops, perform community service projects and ALL ‘Debs’ are awarded college scholarships. The Charlotte Chapter has awarded roughly $900,000 annually in college scholarships! Given Roddey's recent death, this year's Cotillion will hold special meaning, as the chapter celebrates her amazing life, legacy and footprint on the Charlotte community!
