Charlotte News Club: Solutions City, Part 1
The CLT News Club presents the first in a series of Solutions City panel discussions. The Charlotte Journalism Collaborative spent several months investigating ideas and projects from four cities: Nashville, Philadelphia, Austin and Asheville, exploring solutions to different affordable housing topics. We set out to answer whether what works in those places could be part of Charlotte’s panacea – a Solutions City, of sorts.
In Philadelphia, a program called Jumpstart Philly trains local, community-minded residents on how to buy, renovate, and sell old homes, then supplies loans and expert guidance for their first few projects. Join WFAE’s Nick de la Canal as he brings together folks from the Jumpstart Philly program and Charlotte’s West Side Community Land Trust to share ideas and find ways to create solutions for affordable housing.
