In this beginner pastels class, students will learn how to create a nude figure. The class will focus on the introduction to pastels and figure drawing, including learning the difference between the types of pastels, and how to choose the pastels that are right for you and your project. Students will work together to complete a large-scale figure drawing in pastel, focusing on drawing basic shapes and forms, light and shadow, and color theory.

Advanced students are welcome to join this class. Those who come to the class with a larger skillset will be challenged with new techniques, will learn to use pastels to create abstract and impressionistic paintings, and will learn to create more complex and detailed pastel paintings.
