This guided ‘book club’ is a 10 week study of Debby Irving’s book Waking Up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race. The book has been described as a brutally honest, unflinching exploration of race and personal identity, told with heart by a truly gifted storyteller. Learning how to interrupt racism is part of learning how to be an ally for racial equity. Participants will read the book together and reflect on its message while growing personally and in community with others. The group will be led by three members of Light of Christ United Methodist Church in Ballantyne and will meet online, via Zoom. Meetings will be on Friday Mornings from 7:45am until 8:45am, beginning April 16 and ending June 18. The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants prior to the first group meeting.
