North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green and artist Monique Luck bring an interactive, artistic poetic installation to life, using the words from Shelton Green’s poem "The Communion of White Dresses" in an exhibition by the same name. This exhibition reimagines the tradition, symbolism, and representation of white dresses, exploring their intersection with the generational culture of white dresses and the black female body politic.

Celebrate the opening of The Communion of White Dresses with a poetry reading by North Carolina Poet Jaki Shelton Green will give a poetry reading, followed by an artist talk between artist Monique Luck and Shelton Green, moderated by former McColl Center vice president + creative director Jonell Logan, about the collaborative project that was developed during residencies at McColl Center for the Arts in Fall 2023.
