Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control is warning residents of scam phone calls targeting pet owners who’ve lost their pets.
The group says during the calls scammers, pretending to be Animal Care and Control employees, claim the lost pets are at the shelter and require urgent medical treatment.
The scammers then ask for payment over the phone. Animal Care and Control says it will never ask for payment over the phone.
