Basketball legend Michael Jordan pledged his allegiance to the Queen City last night at an awards ceremony hosted by the Charlotte Chamber. "A lot of you guys don't think I'm here, because you don't see me," joked Jordan. "Well I don't go grocery shopping. But I am around. If you go to most golf courses, you'll pretty much see me. But I am around, I love the city. And when I die, I'm gonna be buried somewhere in North Carolina. I don't know yet. But I'm going to be buried somewhere here, that's how much it means to me." That last quip drew big applause and laughs from the audience of business people and community leaders gathered to honor Jordan as the Chamber's 2008 Citizen of the Carolinas. Jordan received the award for his charity work and economic impact to the region as a co-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. He told the crowd he still spends a lot of time in Chicago, where he is raising his children. But he says North Carolina is his home, since he was born in Wilmington and played basketball for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
