Low-income 7th graders get on college track, one scholarship at a time

A Charlotte doctor has put up more than $60,000 of his own money to start a college scholarship program for a handful of lucky seventh graders at CMS middle schools. Every year, Michael Friedland plans to award a full tuition scholarship at a state school to one student who goes to a Title One school. Title One schools have at least 75 percent of students who qualify for free or discounted meals. WFAE's Simone Orendain spoke with Friedland to learn more about his scholarship.
