If you believe the songs and the TV ads, this is the happiest time of the year. Even if we aren't all that happy, a lot of us try to keep a smiling face for the holidays. Nobody wants to be a Scrooge, after all . . . unless you're Eric Wilson. He's an English professor at Wake Forest University and the author of a book called "Against Happiness." Wilson spoke with WFAE's Julie Rose about why he thinks we should embrace our melancholy side during this season. Eric Wilson is the Thomas H. Pritchard Professor of English at Wake Forest University. His books include "Against Happiness: In Praise of Melancholy" and "The Mercy of Eternity: A Memoir of Depression and Grace."
