At the turn of the 20th century, ragtime music was sweeping the nation. Typically played on piano, ragtime became popular with dancers because of its highly syncopated rhythms. By World War One the music had begun to evolve into the jazz that become synonymous with the "Roaring 20s." But ragtime is alive and well in Charlotte thanks to pianist Ethan Uslan.
