Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray has been in office a little over three months. He replaced Peter Gilchrist, who held the job for 36 years. Gilchrist rarely spoke to reporters or made public statements. Murray says it was time for a change. "Oh it was absolutely time for new blood. This office needed a change, they needed someone to come in breathe a breath of fresh air into this administration," he said. Murray spoke to WFAE's Scott Graf about some of the changes he's made. For one, he says his office is doing more to keep habitual offenders in jail.
