Fifty years ago, the Park Terrace Movie Theater opened at Charlotte’s Park Road Shopping Center. The design was 1960’s futuristic: floor-to-ceiling glass in the lobby, a groovy diamond pattern along the wall, a giant neon sign with a star on top. And if you look closely at the sidewalk out front, you’ll find a small brass plaque that marks a time capsule buried underneath on the theater’s opening day. It’s supposed to be opened this May. NBC Charlotte’s Jeremy Markovich discovered Charlotteans of the late 50s and early 60s had a particular fascination with burying time capsules. He spoke to WFAE's Duncan McFadyen.
