American impressionist John Leslie Breck was well-known in his time, but the artist's works have largely faded from public memory since his death in 1899. But now he's getting a comeback in Charlotte. Mint Museum Uptown is featuring a retrospective of Breck's work — including paintings that haven't been displayed publicly in over a century.

Police in Charlotte say a 3-year-old boy was shot and killed Tuesday night and his 4-year-old sister was wounded. It's the second time in three days a juvenile was the victim of homicide in North Carolina's largest city. A 16-year-old was shot to death Sunday.

The Levine Museum of the New South's KnowCLT app lets users walk through uptown Charlotte and see what the former Brooklyn neighborhood looked like via augmented reality. The museum says other neighborhoods could be added in the future.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper says he will allow the state’s remaining mask restrictions to end Friday even as COVID-19 infections are spiking. But he also urged residents and school districts to follow updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about wearing masks inside and said some state employees will have to verify vaccine status or undergo regular testing and wear masks.

Travis Price, whose violent arrest was captured on video in June, is suing the city of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman, who represents the area in Congress, for defamation. The officer who was filmed arresting Price, Jonathan Moreno, has since been fired and criminally charged in the case.
