North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis says he won’t support Ed Martin’s nomination by President Trump as U.S. Attorney for Washington D.C. Tillis said he met with Martin, but has no tolerance for people who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6. Martin has purged nonpolitical career staff involved in the investigations of the Jan. 6 attack. Tillis spoke with reporters on Tuesday.
"If Mr. Martin were being put forth as a U.S. attorney for any district except the district where Jan. 6 happened, the protests happened, I'd probably support him, but not in this district," he said.
That could sink Martin’s nomination before the Senate Judiciary, of which Tillis is a member. His “no” vote would leave the committee deadlocked at 11-11, with all 10 Democrats on the panel opposing Martin.
