A change in refugee policy by the Trump Administration will heavily impact Charlotte and North Carolina. We look at why we are a haven for refugees and what this policy change will mean.
Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced it was cutting the number of refugees allowed into the United States by 15 thousand – to the lowest number in 40 years.
Charlotte and North Carolina consistently rank in the top ten in terms of the number of refugees we welcome but that number has been falling as the result of Trump Administration cuts. We assess the impact of that on our refugee community and examine steps being taken to address this.
