Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board gets feedback from teachers and families this week after their decision last week to bring back students for a short time in August before shifting to all-remote classes.
Most restaurants that serve alcohol in Mecklenburg County will be prohibited from serving onsite food or booze after 11 p.m. under a new proclamation signed by the mayors of Charlotte, Matthews, Davidson, Mint Hill and Pineville. We'll discuss details.
Several retailers have begun requiring shoppers to wear masks in stores, while others (like Dollar Tree and Family Dollar) have walked back their mandates or have said (like Lowe’s) that they won’t enforce the wearing of masks. We’ll talk about the shift here and around the country.
There’s an effort to make early voting safer, where social distancing and the pandemic is concerned. The Mecklenburg County Board of Elections approved the useof Bank of America Stadium and Spectrum Center as early-voting polling sites for the fall.
Tensions continue between Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden and the group Jail Support, with the sheriff saying the group is getting in the way of the sheriff’s office doing its job, and causing damage to property. We’ll discuss what happened this week.
