Charlotte Talks Friday News Roundup: Amazon Cuts Out Charlotte; Snow And Ice Hit The Queen City

Friday, January 19, 2018

Amazon releases their short list for new headquarter cities, and Charlotte doesn't make the cut. We’re hit with snow and cold.  Emergency shelters open for the homeless.  The women’s march steps off again this weekend.  Domestic violence deaths spiked this month. Host Mike Collins and our roundtable of reporters cover those stories and more on the Charlotte Talks Friday News Roundup.

If it’s Friday, it’s the news roundup on Charlotte Talks.

Amazon announced its short list of cities up for consideration for a second headquarters this week. Charlotte didn't make the list, but Raleigh did.

Snow and cold arrive and the city’s emergency shelters open to help the homeless.  Was there room for everyone?

Domestic violence deaths spike this month after a year of a mounting homicide count.

Women prepare to march in Charlotte a year after the marches that followed the Trump Inauguration.

And Governor Cooper talks about what’s being done and what is left to do to combat the opioid epidemic.

Our roundtable of reporters joins Mike Collins in detailing those and other stories during the local news roundup on Charlotte Talks.
