U.S. Troops Launch Fallujah Assault

Thousands of U.S. forces begin a much-anticipated assault on the insurgent stronghold of Fallujah Monday in an operation code-named Phantom Fury.

Iraq's Interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi approved the operation, saying the offensive is meant to target terrorists and "have the rule of law prevail" in Fallujah.
