Culinary Delights At CPCC

One of the best - and most exclusive - restaurants in Charlotte is one you’ve likely never heard of.

There’s no bar, no valet parking, no sign. It’s tough to get a reservation, and you can forget sweet-talking your way in or bribing the maitre d’.

It’s the Greenway Restaurant at Central Piedmont Community College.

Guests pay a modest $12 charge for a three-course luncheon that showcases the culinary artistry the student chefs are practicing. The menu isn’t announced until diners are seated, but all dishes make creative use of high-quality, seasonal ingredients. Past entrée offerings have included an organic, pan-roasted chicken breast with spinach, artichokes and tomatoes; jumbo lump crab cakes with warm slaw and roasted red pepper sauce; and wood-grilled prawns with basmati rice and wasabi beurre blanc. Delectable desserts complete the meal.

The dining room is modern yet inviting, and overlooks its namesake greenway. Located on the college’s Central Campus, the restaurant is part of the new Philip L. Van Every Culinary Arts Center that opened less than a year ago.

Hours and days are very limited, and savvy diners know to book quickly or risk missing out. The dates are February 18-21 and February 25-27. The times are 11:30, 12:00, and 12:30. Bookings can be made for parties of 2, 3, or 4. The $12 fee is payable by credit/debit card only. To make a reservation, send an email with your name, number in party, phone number, email address, date and time to greenwayrestaurant@cpcc.edu.

Enjoy!
