CMPD responded to two separate homicides Tuesday night along Tryon Street.
Officers say they found 27-year-old Demetrius Thomas with a gunshot wound in front of a shopping center at 6700 North Tryon in the University City area around 9 p.m. Tuesday night. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say it appears Thomas was standing outside the shopping center when a male suspect approached and shot him and then fled. A suspect has not been named and the investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, CMPD is conducting a homicide investigation after a man died at the hospital after arriving with a gunshot wound around midnight. The department says witnesses who arrived at the hospital with the man told officers he was shot in the parking lot of the Motel 6 near S. Tryon St. and Woodlawn Ave.
The man’s name has not been released and a suspect has not been identified.
