Panthers Tight End Greg Olsen Returns To Practice After Foot Injury

Carolina Panthers star tight end Greg Olsen returned to practice Thursday on a limited basis just four weeks after breaking his right foot in the team’s season opener.

Olsen had re-injured the same foot that kept him sidelined last season for nine games. He had two catches for 33 yards against the Dallas Cowboys before the injury forced him to the sideline where he could be seen walking around in a boot.

Head coach Ron Rivera says Olsen will not play on Sunday at home against the New York Giants and Olsen will be re-evaluated next week. Olsen said it is "not out of the question" that he could return for the Panthers game against the Washington Redskins on Oct. 14.

Olsen has not played a full season since 2016 when he recorded 80 catches for 1,073 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He signed a two-year extension in April that will keep him with the team through the 2020 season.
