A former one-hit wonder made good, Nada Surf rebounded from an assortment of apparent career-killers — a bad major-label deal, a modern-rock novelty hit in 1996's "Popular" — to emerge in the '00s as a critically acclaimed and commercially successful powerhouse. Now more than 15 years into its career, Nada Surf has found its voice, and it's as confident as it is winningly upbeat and hopeful. Now that it's established its critical and commercial staying power, Nada Surf throws a good-natured curveball on its forthcoming album, If I Had a Hi-Fi. Without losing its grip on harmony and pop craftsmanship, the band spends the entire record covering some of its favorite songs, touching on material by the likes of Kate Bush, Bill Fox and The Go-Betweens. Expect a mixture of covers and classics at this daytime concert.
