Speedway Motorsports Offers Vouchers To Fans Stuck In Ky. Traffic Fiasco
Officials with Concord-based Speedway Motorsports Inc. say they're now offering ticket vouchers for fans who missed last weekend's NASCAR race in Kentucky. The company operates the Kentucky Speedway, which hosted its first Sprint Cup race last weekend. The facility was overwhelmed with traffic and inadequate parking. Traffic back-ups were estimated to be between 15 and 20 miles. The exact number of fans who couldn't get to the track in time to see the race isn't clear, but Speedway Motorsports officials have estimated it to be in the thousands. Fans who missed the race can use their ticket to see another race at an SMI track this year, or go back to Kentucky for next year's race.
