Rudresh Mahanthappa and Vernice "Bunky" Green first met as student and mentor — as musicians over 35 years apart in age often do. But years later, when they first took the stage together, they instantly knew they had to make an album. Hence the 2010 record Apex, a matchup of the two sizzling and sinuous alto saxophonists, and the touring band it spawned. Mahanthappa and Green reprise that tag-team effort in this set from the Quad Stage at Newport.
