Cogdell Teams Up With Four Republican Commissioners To Oust Roberts
When the Democratic National Convention comes to Charlotte next summer, the person representing county government will not be Democrat Jennifer Roberts. She lost her position as county commission chair Tuesday night after a fellow Democrat teamed up with four Republicans to oust her. Harold Cogdell voted with all four GOP members of the commission to pick himself as the new commission chairman, and to vote Republican Jim Pendergraph - instead of Roberts - as vice chair. Roberts had served in that capacity for the past five years.
