Charlotte Treasure Trees

Charlotte Treasure Trees Charlotte has always been known for its leafy canopy but among the legions of majestic Oaks, Maples and Evergreens grow a special group of trees - "Treasure Trees." Treasure trees are called such if they meet a certain criteria which include size, age and historical significance. Queen's University of Charlotte will hold a Treasure Tree Sunday and organizers hope it will raise awareness as to the value of our trees. Meanwhile a project is underway to plant one million trees in the 5 boroughs of New York. One woman, Maggie Barker, is connected to both events and she joins us along with two other experts on the history, health and value of Charlotte's Treasure Trees. Guests Maggie Barker - Author of Treasure in The City and Teacher at Park Road Montessori Dr. Don Booth - Entomologist, Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories Tom Martin - Founder, Treasure Tree initiative Add and read comments
